Self-Detection Not as Effective as Medical Screenings for Melanoma

The Doctor's Lounge reports that self-detection is not as effective as medical screenings for melanoma. Any type of cancer could lead to the need for long-term disability benefits while you are unable to work.

While melanoma can be found by individuals, new research finds that the most effective detection is to be screened by a doctor. This study also found that doctors have a better chance at finding cancer in its earliest stage, which could potentially be life-saving.

Once melanoma has advanced, it is usually fatal. Early detection is the key to preventing the growth of this type of cancer.

Out of the 527 cases of melanoma
involved in this study, 82% of them had been found in patients who regularly visit their doctor and 63% of them had been found in new patients.

This is in comparison to just an 18% self-detection rate,
with most of the discoveries were not found until after there was a noticeable change in appearance on the skin.

Although it may seem that qualifying for long-term disability benefits would be cut and dry, many claims are denied. If your claim has been denied or you need help in applying for disability benefits, then you should consult with a Plantation long-term disability attorney right away.

Long-term disability benefits may be available to those who have purchased a disability plan from a private insurer or have coverage through an employer. Unfortunately, the insurers don't make it easy for the disabled to get access to the benefits they deserve.

When a severe medical condition makes it impossible for you to work and you've been denied your long-term disability benefits, an attorney from LaVan & Neidenberg, P.A. can help you cut through the red tape and fight for your benefits, no matter where you live in the U.S!
