Shorter Pause Between CPR and Defibrillator Could Save More Lives

In a report from the Doctor's Lounge, a new study finds that shorter pauses between CPR and defibrillation, used on heart attack victims, could save more lives. A heart attack could lead to complications that may leave you out of work for a long period of time which you may be eligible to collect long-term disability benefits. Speak with a Ft. Lauderdale long-term disability attorney to see if you qualify.

It was discovered that those patients who had been administered CPR and given a shock with pauses in between that were 20 seconds or longer, had a higher risk of death. Those who had less than 20 seconds in between had a greater likelihood of survival.

Specifically researchers found a 53% less chance of survival for those who received a shock more than 20 seconds in between, in comparison to those whose pause time was 10 seconds or less. There was a 45% less chance of survival for those who received a shock more than 40 seconds in between compared to those whose pause time was 20 seconds.

When you have questions about collecting disability benefits, then you should consult with a Ft. Lauderdale long-term disability attorney. An attorney can advise you on your rights to receive long-term disability benefits.

Long-term disability benefits may be available to those who have purchased a disability plan from a private insurer or have coverage through an employer. Unfortunately, the insurers don't make it easy for the disabled to get access to the benefits they deserve. When a severe medical condition makes it impossible for you to work and you've been denied your long-term disability benefits, an attorney from LaVan & Neidenberg, P.A. can help you cut through the red tape and fight for your benefits, no matter where you live in the U.S!
