Sign Our Petition to Help Disabled Veterans in Florida

Veterans with disabilities face myriad challenges when seeking the benefits they are owed, including overwhelming backlogs and laws that further complicate an already complex process.

Florida's Medical Statute (395.3025) is one of those laws. The statute requires anyone attempting to obtain their medical records pay a fee of $1 for every page. For disabled veterans and citizens living in Florida, who exist on a very fixed income, which is generally dictated by the benefits they are fighting for, that $1 can quickly become a hardship.

For younger veterans, this may not be a cost prohibitive issue. For older veterans, whose records can span 50 years or more, it becomes apparent that many may not be able to afford to pay that fee. Without those records, however, it becomes impossible to support disability claims. This leaves hundreds, if not thousands, of veterans in a position of not being given the ability to fight for themselves.
