Social Security Disability judges make a determination about your residual functional capacity...

In this Social Security Disability decision the Administrative Law Judge (ALJ), Dean W. Determan*,  states the claimant's residual functional capacity based on his 3rd degree burns, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and depression.

Judge Determan determines that the claimant cannot sustain gainful employment because the claimant demonstrates many limitations. The claimant is limited to:

-Sit less than 4 hours out of an 8-hour day with occasional postural limitations
-Can stand and/or walk less than 2 hours in an 8-hour day
-Can lift up to 5 pounds with limited reaching in all directions including overhead

Additionally, the ALJ finds that the claimant cannot sit, stand and/or walk for 6 hours in an 8-hour workday, and therefore, further confirms that the claimant cannot sustain gainful activity on a full-time competitive basis.
