Stay Updated Regarding the Ticket to Work Program

The Social Security Administration's Ticket to Work program has been around for more than seven years. If you heard about it when it was first created, you might have dismissed it because the guidelines stated that anyone working would automatically lose their Social Security disability or SSI benefits.

However, the last year has seen big changes for this program, with the main one being that you will not lose your benefits as soon as you get a job. Instead, they will be gradually lowered until it is determined that you can live off your earned income, rather than depending on the SSA.

If you are still reluctant to let go of the safety of monthly checks in favor of a job, consider the following benefits of the Ticket to Work program:

  • You can gain some independence and a sense of accomplishment when you get a job on your own
  • You will likely earn more money over time than you currently receive in your monthly benefits
  • You can retain your Medicare or Medicaid benefits for some time when you get a job
  • Your checks will only decrease by the amount you make at the job

These facts mean that you can consider returning to work temporarily without risking your current benefits. If you think you may be able to return to work, the Ticket to Work program has given you that opportunity. If it were not for these program changes, you could find yourself with no income should you pursue a new career that does not work out.

Your lawyer will have more information available for you regarding the program. Getting the facts from a reputable source is crucial if you want to ensure that you can hold onto your benefits while pursuing a new career. If you want to stay up-to-date on any recent changes, let your lawyer know that you are interested in the Ticket to Work program.

Every day I struggle with the symptoms of my disability. One thing that helps me to keep going is my job. I am fortunate that I am able to work for a company that truly cares about their employees. They work with me when I am in too much pain to work and allow me to customize my schedule to my needs. Best of all, I get to work from the comforts of my own home. J. Lodge Corporation is a quality call services company that incorporates an employee model consisting of Americans on SSI and SSDI. By using their educational and business experience; employees are able to pursue a work from home, part-time career. J. Lodge Corporation is currently expanding. They are looking for individuals who are interested in their company and who qualify for our positions. If interested, please visit jlodge.com/careers and apply online.
