



I have a special interest in the medical advancements of a disease known as fibromyalgia. My mother suffers from the disease. And though millions of Americans suffer from the condition everyday, including my mother, it is not known by many. Even doctors are perplexed by its symptoms and how best to relieve their patient's pain.
Those that live with the constant pain of fibromyalgia are also forced to live with the reality that there is little information to be had about their disease.
Thankfully, the medical community is responding. The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, The Institute for Johns Hopkins Nursing and the National Fibromyalgia Association announced on October 27, 2008 the launch of the Fibromyalgia Circle of Care Initiative at the ACR/ARHP Annual Scientific Meeting in San Francisco. The outcomes-based educational initiative will educate providers about the disease state and the latest therapeutic options; thus, driving accurate and early diagnosis of fibromyalgia.
