According to Disabled World, a new therapy grant hopes to find helpful treatment for epilepsy patients who are resistant to traditional drugs. Epilepsy could become disabling and qualify you to receive Social Security disability benefits, which can help offset your lost income.
Some individuals who suffer from epilepsy don't benefit from medications due to a resistance to them. Now the Epilepsy Foundation and the Epilepsy Therapy Project have announced a new grant that will help a clinical study for a non-invasive way to treat seizures in the brain.
The repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) H-Coil works by restraining the irregular electrical activity that appears to cause seizures in focal temporal lobe epilepsy. This particular type affects about 20% of epileptic patients and of them; approximately 70% are drug resistant.
This grant will help move the process for treatment along much faster. The hope is that it will show an ability to control seizures and quickly move to the market.
If you suffer from epilepsy or another severe health condition that prevents you from working, then you could be eligible to receive disability benefits. You would benefit from speaking with a Hallendale Social Security disability attorney as soon as possible. A lawyer can explain your rights to disability and how the process to obtain them works.
