January 21, 2011- In order to better serve veterans receiving health care from Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) medical centers and hospitals, the VA created a new office. The Office of Patient Centered Care and Cultural Transformation opened its doors on January 17, 2011 and will focus on creating custom, patient-centered models of care.
The quality of the VA's health care is top notch, and it is because of programs like these. The VA drives itself to be data driven in order to develop cutting edge treatments. That focus is derived from the VA's patient-centered approach to health care. Coupling these approaches together sheds light on why the VA sets such high standards for health care.
The cultural development aspect of the office has its work cut out for it, given the health care environment in this country at this moment. Just as health care is not static, neither will this office be. In a state of constant flux, the office will focus on developing new ways in which to care for veterans. Beyond that, they will study the results of the health care methods they develop so they can be implemented and adapted at VA medical centers.
These methods will keep the VA on the top rung of the health care ladder and will continue to provide veterans the best care possible. There are 4 sites that will implement the programs and policies this office develops before they are made national standards.
Soldiers can return home with a number of conditions, injuries, and aggravated preexisting conditions. If you believe you have a service-connected physical or psychological injury you may be entitled to Veterans’ Disability Compensation.
