VA sends profane letter to widow claiming benefits

According to the Washington Examiner, the widow of a WWII veteran claiming veterans benefits based upon her late husband's service received a shocking letter from the VA on September 3, 2009. The letter, filled with profanity, suggested that important evidence in the veteran's claims file had been removed by VA employees.

The letter also referred to possible bribery by the Montgomery, Alabama, VA service center manager, Amy Hill. The author of the letter wrote regarding Ms. Hill - "She told you that if you would trust her and not ask for a OIG investigation, that she would grant your claim." The OIG is the Department of Veterans Affairs Office of the Inspector General.

When the widow confronted Ms. Hill about the letter, Hill admitted that she was aware of its contents. When Hill was contacted by the Washington Examiner, she refused to provide a comment on the matter.

Just this past Mrs. Bessie Krone called the VA to check on the status of her $35,000 claim - she learned it had been deleted from the VA's system.
