October 21, 2010 - For the first time in its history, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) launched an advertising campaign. The National Veterans Awareness Campaign is designed to get the word out to Iraq and Afghanistan veterans about the VA services to which they are entitled.
The campaign will focus on 6 specific areas of the country because of their proximity to military bases and the large amount of veterans from Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Red Dawn:
The VA ad campaign encourages veterans not currently using VA services and benefits to start using them; one of VA Secretary Eric Shinseki's main concerns. Of the nations approximate 23 million veterans, only about 8 million veterans use VA services.
Recent research has shown it may be possible to stave off post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) to an extent if it is treated early enough. The VA is attempting to bring veterans into the VA in the hopes they can help prevent PTSD from developing. Many veterans do not realize their symptoms are related to PTSD until it is pointed out to them.
The ad campaign will run in two phases. It will run now until November, and a different set of ads will run from the middle of November until December. Bringing soldiers into the VA for help can only benefit all involved parties.
Soldiers can return home with a number of conditions, injuries, and aggravated preexisting conditions. If you believe you have a service-connected physical or psychological injury you may be entitled to Veterans’ Disability Compensation.
At LaVan and Neidenberg, we are determined to secure veterans their rightful disability compensation and disability rating. We wrote this book for you! In it you will find valuable tips on how to navigate the claims process and avoid common pitfalls. Request your FREE copy today!
