More than 20% of all Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) facility patients suffer from diabetes, which is equivalent to more than 1 million veterans. There is nothing indicating that percentage will drop any time in the immediate future.
At the same time, the cost of treating health complications directly related to diabetes is rising. The VA is focused on "reducing preventable morbidity and mortality." One way they are attempting to reach that goal is through the use of multiple person access to patient glucose results.
The VA will be implementing a new interface for their Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system for just this purpose. This interface will allow patients' diabetes information to be automatically transmitted right into the VA's VistA record keeping system. It is believed this will improve the VA's accuracy and efficiency in treating veterans with diabetes.
The patients' glucose results will be available for access to every healthcare provider within the VA's healthcare system once they have been transmitted to the EMR from the new interface. The interface allows a much more convenient and accurate method for collecting the glucose results and delivering it to the patients' EMR. In the end, this will greatly assist physicians in outpatient settings attempting to manage the patients' diabetes.
Soldiers can return home with a number of conditions, injuries, and aggravated preexisting conditions. If you believe you have a service-connected physical or psychological injury you may be entitled to Veterans’ Disability Compensation.
At LaVan and Neidenberg, we are determined to secure veterans their rightful disability compensation and disability rating. We wrote this book for you! In it you will find valuable tips on how to navigate the claims process and avoid common pitfalls. Request your FREE copy today!
