Pleasant Valley Energy LLC (PVE), a veteran-owned business is
making a difference both in the lives of underdeveloped African villagers and disabled U.S. veterans by providing employment.
Charles Byers is a disabled Navy veteran who founded PVE as a company to benefit both his fellow disabled veterans and those in need of alternative energy resources. His company has partnered with numerous organizations, such as the African Women Economic Consortium and the Mid-Hudson Workshop for the Disabled in Poughkeepsie.
Byers’
current project, the Joe Dome, is a solar, wind, and geothermal-powered effort to construct an alternative energy village in Nkporo, Nigeria. This project is being funded by the development of another product produced by U.S. veteran employees – the Eagle Scout C.B., which is a PV-powered LED hiking stick.
PVE also
recently was awarded a contract through the Government Services Agency to develop and install solar roof vents on government buildings in New York. This project will give Byers the
opportunity to expand his disabled veteran workforce to 20 additional jobs and increase revenues by a projected $500,000. These numbers could increase in 2013 with the contract, totaling $1 million in revenue and 20-25 more jobs the next year.
Byers’
employment of disabled veterans has given many the opportunities to learn new job skills and earn an income when they cannot return to their previous professions due to their disability.
If you are a disabled veteran who has been denied disability compensation or have not yet applied for benefits from the VA, a South Florida disability attorney from LaVan & Neidenberg is ready to help. To learn if you are entitled to certain programs and benefits
