Veteran-Owned Businesses’ Receive Private Sector Assistance

April 16, 2010 - The National Veteran-Owned Business Association (NaVOBA), which works to bring existing and upcoming veteran-owned businesses together, recognized Science Application International Corporation (SAIC) as one of the 2010 Best Corporations for veteran-owned businesses in Vetrepreneur magazine. This is SOIC's 5th time receiving the recognition.

According to NaVOBA there are 3,000,000 veteran-owned businesses and NaVOBA supports private sector businesses to use veteran-owned businesses as favored vendors. SAIC not only builds relations with businesses to include veteran-owned businesses, the company counsels and trains these businesses so that they may grow, become competitive, and become more preferred businesses with whom to deal. For veteran-owned businesses, these training sessions are free of charge. SAIC's offered training includes:

• Proposal development;
• Pricing; and
• Program management.

 Veteran-owned businesses received $335 million in subcontracts from SAIC. Stated goals for service-related veteran-owned businesses were surpassed for the third year in a row. SAIC fosters initiatives to help veteran-owned business develop more business opportunities based on healthy relationships.

As further recognition for SAIC's work with small businesses, they have been honored by the Small Business Administration, the Department of Defense as well as other Federal agencies. Veteran-owned businesses can apparently only become more thriving
