Veterans organizations expanding into cyberspace - online communities for Iraq and Afghanistan troops and vets...

This generation's troops and veterans need a medium of communication they are accustomed to - the Internet. Online communities geared toward veterans from today's wars (Iraq and Afghanistan) are sprouting up everywhere. The various online veterans organizations hope to expand today's troops' and veterans' communities by offering a unique way to connect with others who can relate to their experience.

Only one percent of Americans have seen combat in Iraq and Afghanistan - it can get very lonely for our military service members, which is why these organizations are responding and reaching out.

Troops, vets, family members and friends: join an online community today by visting any one of these sites:

  • Community of Veterans: http://communityofveterans.org/
  • Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America: http://www.iava.org/
  • Veterans of Foreign Wars: http://www.vfw.org/
  • American Legion: http://www.legion.org
