A special
outreach event sponsored by The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is taking place all day on Wednesday, January 18 to help connect disabled veterans from Washington D.C., Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and West Virginia to new career fields and employment. This event is free of charge and welcomes all veterans.
The VA is teaming up with The Department of Defense to present a career fair and expo at the
Washington D.C. Convention Center from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Participating agencies include the following:
- The Department of Defense;
- Veterans Health Administration;
- Veterans Benefits Administration;
- National Cemetery Administration; and
- many other federal organizations and private sector employers.
Aside from learning about employment opportunities,
veterans can participate in many other hands-on educational affairs such as workshops to learn about building a civilian-friendly resume, interview skills, education benefits through the Post-9/11 GI Bill, small business opportunities, and disability benefits through eBenefits and the VA health care system.
There are many
resources and support organizations available to disabled veterans seeking health care, education, housing, and employment. The VA provides many of these services, as do many national and local advocacy groups for veterans.
If you are a disabled veteran who has been denied disability compensation or have not yet applied for benefits from the VA, a South Florida disability attorney from LaVan & Neidenberg is ready to help. To learn if you are entitled to certain programs and benefits
