Furthermore, it has never been proven that high cholesterol is the common risk factor for an individual suffering a stroke, yet statins which are designed to help lower cholesterol, are a common form of treatment given in an effort to decrease the chance of an individual suffering a stroke.

Statins have also been found to lower triglyceride levels so experts believe that it could be one of the factors that actually help to lower the risk of stroke.
