Younger-Onset Alzheimer’s Could Lead to Disability

According to a report from Delaware Online, younger-onset Alzheimer's could lead to disability. If you've been diagnosed with Alzheimer's or any other severe medical condition that results in you being unable to continue working, you could be entitled to Social Security disability benefits.

While Alzheimer's is commonly known as a condition that strikes older adults, symptoms that are evident before the age of 65 years old is known as early-onset or younger-onset Alzheimer's.

The unfortunate reality is that most adults during these years are in the midst of securing their family financially. So when symptoms of Alzheimer's rise up, it can be a real challenge. Depending on the individual, it may even become necessary to either adjust their working situation or stop altogether.

The good news is that last year Social Security Administration added younger-onset Alzheimer's to their list of conditions that can receive benefits right away, which could decrease the risk of suffering a fall or developing a medical condition such as pulmonary embolism.

Additionally, Alzheimer's is the 5th leading cause of death, with many patients dying about 8 to 10 years after their diagnosis.

If you've been diagnosed with younger-onset Alzheimer's or any other severe condition, then you should secure legal counsel from a South Florida Social Security disability lawyer.
