Click To Call This is a complicated question to answer... With hearing wait times at an all time high, it is not uncommon for a Social Security Disability , SSI , VA Disability Compensation , or long-term disability claimant's financial situation to beuncertain at best. And because you cannever predict if or when you will become disabled and unable to work for a living, it is difficult to plan ahead financially which is why financial uncertainty, in most cases, is unavoidable. It is important to recognize that alarge numberof disabilityclaims will be denied which means one or more appeals will need to be filed.Sadly, there is no sure fire way to speed up the disability hearings and appeals process, which in a worse case scenario, can take upto two years to complete. Armed with this knowledge, claimants should try their best to plan ahead financially. This includes:

 Avoiding new debts and obligations
If possible, restructuringcurrent debts and obligations
Staying away from large purchases, such as, buying a new car(even if you can afford it at the moment - your financial situation may change significantly down the road)
When eligible, applying for public assistance, such as, food stamps

This is a complicated question to answer...

With hearing wait times at an all time high, it is not uncommon for a Social Security Disability, SSI, VA Disability Compensation, or long-term disability claimant's financial situation to be uncertain at best. And because you can never predict if or when you will become disabled and unable to work for a living, it is difficult to plan ahead financially which is why financial uncertainty, in most cases, is unavoidable.

It is important to recognize that a large number of disability claims will be denied which means one or more appeals will need to be filed. Sadly, there is no sure fire way to speed up the disability hearings and appeals process, which in a worse case scenario, can take up to two years to complete.

Armed with this knowledge, claimants should try their best to plan ahead financially. This includes:

  • Avoiding new debts and obligations
  • If possible, restructuring current debts and obligations
  • Staying away from large purchases, such as, buying a new car (even if you can afford it at the moment - your financial situation may change significantly down the road)
  • When eligible, applying for public assistance, such as, food stamps
