Is it possible for me, the claimant, to request an on-the-record decision?

A:

Yes! You, your attorney, or advocate can request an on-the-record decision by calling the Social Security Office of Disability Adjudication and Review (ODAR) where your file is awaiting a hearing.

It is important to note that the success of an on-the-record decision hinges on the strength of the medical evidence presented to the administrative law judge (ALJ). If your claim is denied following an on-the-record decision, you must be given the opportunity to have your case heard in person before an ALJ.
