When can I expect to get a decision on my disability claim?

A: Each person’s claim is unique, but it generally takes 3 to 4 months to receive a decision on your initial application. If your initial application is denied, LaVan & Neidenberg will file for “Reconsideration” immediately--it can take another 3 to 4 months to receive a decision on your request for Reconsideration. If your request for Reconsideration is denied, LaVan & Neidenberg will request a hearing with an Administrative Law Judge (ALJ). Receiving a hearing date depends on the backlog of cases in your area, but it can take between 6 and 24 months from the time your request for Hearing is filed.
