Homes for Our Troops (HFOT)
Homes for Our Troops is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to building specially adapted homes for disabled servicemen and servicewomen. Established by John Gonsalves, a construction supervisor, the nonprofit has been going strong since 2004. Gonsalves was looking for a way to help disabled veterans when they returned from war. When he found that there was no existing program to provide disabled veterans with homes that meet the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act he decided to start his own.
Homes for Our Troops has to date completed 51 homes. There are over thirty more homes currently in progress. Disabled veterans in Florida, Georgia and beyond will soon be given the keys to their own specially built home.

- Current and Completed Projects- Homes for Our Troops has built houses across the country. Current projects include homes in Florida, Georgia and Texas. This page will allow you to view pictures of homes and learn more about the veterans who have benefited from the nonprofit.
- Events- This link will take you to all current events. Events on the calendar include project schedules, benefit bike rides and other fund raising activities. Homes for Our Troops encourages fundraising on any scale. They will list any fundraising activity, from a roadside lemonade stand to a large corporate fundraising event.
- News- Find current projects and other news here. Current news items include: Community Builds Home for Disabled Georgia Soldier and Volunteer Army to Build House for Veteran.
- Photo Albums and Video- Pictures and video here are organized by name. Through the pictures on this page you can learn more about the veterans who have received homes. Photos of the homes themselves are also included along with videos of the veterans sharing their stories.
- Application for Assistance- This form will allow you to apply for a specially adapted home of your own. Questions include: Are you rated as having "permanent and total service connected" disability? and Is your status as a veteran established as serving on active duty during "Wartime Service?"
- Donation and Volunteer Opportunities- There are many ways to volunteer your time or donate your money here. There are options for donating by phone, online and through the mail. One time donations are accepted along with monthly giving and memorial donations. For those who would like to donate their time there are many options. Professional tradesmen and volunteers without homebuilding experience are welcome to help in their community.
