In Florida, the Crime Victim Service's Unit can help with benefits for the funeral. They list on their website that they can provide eligible injured crime victims financial assistance for funeral expenses and "other out-of-pocket expenses directly related to the injury."
If you are truly in a bind and not able to afford much at all in the way of a funeral; cremation is one of the least expensive options. You can also have a reception/memorial at your local church, which is usually free, or at least by gratuity only.
