Crohn's disease is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) that causes swelling of the digestive tract, also referred to as the gastrointestinal (GI) tract.
Crohn's disease may affect any part of the GI tract, but it usually impacts the end of the small intestine (the ileum), and the beginning of the large intestine (the colon). Crohn's disease is often misdiagnosed for other GI disorders, such as ulcerative colitis, diverticulitis and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
