Work and Social Security Disability Insurance Status (Part B)

Your pursuit of Ticket to Work earnings may hit bureaucratic snags and require a disability attorney's help in smoothing the way. Every SSDI recipient is technically eligible for a "ticket." Together with a chosen employment network, you will create an individual work plan that carries certain rights and responsibilities.

While you meet work plan requirements, you are entitled to:

  • Test and assess your physical ability to work
  • Receive job skills training
  • Work part or full time
  • Receive transportation expense money
  • Receive monthly SSDI checks
  • Receive Medicare or Medicaid coverage
  • Exemption from Continuing Disability Reviews of your medical condition

Hiring an Attorney

If any of the services referenced above are denied to you, a Social Security disability lawyer can help you secure or reinstate them. You cannot be cut off from the Ticket to Work or other SSA programs just because you get better and are able to take on more work. Benefits based on your income, however, such as Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments, may be in jeopardy.

Your work plan will be implemented over time, possibly years. Within that time frame, if you continue to progress toward your employment goal, you can't lose your Social Security disability benefits. Even if a medical review is requested for another reason, it will not affect your eligibility. If your condition worsens, either with a temporary or permanent setback, your ticket will simply be suspended, not cancelled. Should you improve once more, you can pick up where you left off in fulfilling your individual work plan.

If you or your loved is suffering from a severe physical or mental disability, you should contact a Social Security Disability lawyer immediately to learn about your rights and determine eligibility. The process of securing Social Security Disability and/or Supplemental Security Income benefits can be difficult and overwhelming. Don't go it alone! The attorneys at LaVan & Neidenberg, located in Atlanta, Georgia, understand the inner workings of the Social Security Administration and will help you navigate the system. Call us today for a FREE legal consultation - 1-888-234-5758.
