When Scott Vycital was seriously injured while serving with the Army in Iraq he likely had no idea that six years later he would be sitting with the first lady during the state of the union address. Yet Vycital was one of only 24 people selected to sit with first lady Michelle Obama during the recent state of the union address.
Vycital was there not just to enjoy the experience, but to advocate on behalf of disabled veterans nationwide.
Vycital now contends with both his physical injuries and post-traumatic stress disorder. However, with help from the VA and the National Association of Disability's Wounded Warrior Careers program Vycital went on to get a degree in business administration. He is now working for the Federal Highway Administration. Vycital has remained a fierce advocate for veterans' rights. Despite all he has accomplished the veteran is humble.
"To represent disabled veterans on this grand of a scale is just an incredible honor that I'm not sure I deserve because there are so many veterans out there that have done miracles with the injuries they have sustained," he said.
Vycital and his family spent three days in Washington advocating for the rights of disabled veterans.Read More About Disabled Veteran Honored, Advocates for Veterans’ Rights in D.C....
