Potential New Drug Identified to Treat Common Kidney Disease

Researchers have potentially discovered a new drug that could treat common kidney disease. Crescentic glomerulonephritis can lead to acute kidney failure if not treated early on. The research, done on mice in the United Kingdom, showed that those who were lacking the mannose receptor protein were protected from crescentic glomerulonephritis. Researchers believe that by targeting the mannose receptor it might lead to better treatment of this kidney disease.
